Zuri’s daring escape
The golden sun of the savanna blazed high in the sky, and the heat shimmered in the air. A zebra named Zuri wandered peacefully through the grass, enjoying the day. But nearby, hidden in the tall grass, a lion named Kito was lurking. Kito was hungry and ready to pounce.
Kito crept forward silently, each step carefully calculated so the prey wouldn’t notice anything. Zuri continued grazing, unaware of the danger. Suddenly, Zuri lifted her head, the sunlight glinting in her eyes as she heard something—a faint rustling in the grass caught her attention.
Instinctively, Zuri tensed up and began to scan her surroundings more closely. Kito, sensing that the moment had come, tensed his muscles and prepared to strike. But just then, Zuri came up with a way to avoid the lion’s attack.
Without warning, Zuri bolted towards a small grove of trees that she knew was filled with dense undergrowth and narrow paths. The zebra was fast and agile, knowing that the lion would struggle to follow her easily through the thick brush. Kito lunged forward, but Zuri had already gained a head start.
Zuri skillfully weaved through the trees and bushes until she emerged on the other side, into a more open clearing. Kito had to slow down, and his large size made it cumbersome to move through the confined space. Zuri knew she had to keep running a bit longer to ensure she was completely safe.
As she continued to run, Zuri saw a large river ahead. She knew the water could be her ally. Without hesitation, Zuri leaped into the river and began to swim powerfully with the current. Kito arrived at the riverbank but stopped there. Lions were not known to be strong swimmers, and Zuri knew this.
Zuri swam determinedly until she was far enough away from the lion. She climbed out onto the opposite bank, panting but safe. Kito watched with disappointment but knew there was nothing more he could do. The zebra had successfully escaped.
Zuri shook the water from her coat and glanced back at the other shore. She knew her quick thinking and agility had saved her. Now, she could continue her journey back to her herd, wiser and more alert than ever before.
